Chiropractic Assessment

What Happens. The Chiropractic Process.

At the Chiropractors chiropractic clinics in Solihull and Sutton Coldfield our starting point is to decide if we think we can help this person.

In the minority of cases where think we simply won’t be able to help, or have concerns that that there may be something sinister that needs to be ruled out, we will refer them to another healthcare professional.

Step 1

Consultation and Examination Appointment

The consultation and examination is the first, longest and most important appointment and serves as crucial initial steps in assessing and addressing musculoskeletal health.

The primary purpose of this appointment is to gather comprehensive information about the patient’s medical history, relevant past injuries, lifestyle factors that may contribute to their pain as well as their health goals and preferences.

The examination phase involves a thorough physical assessment, including orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic tests including a digital posture scan, to identify any structural misalignments, joint restrictions, or muscle imbalances.

Importantly, chiropractors are vigilant in looking for “red flags” during these evaluations, which could indicate underlying serious health issues beyond the scope of chiropractic care. These red flags may include signs of neurological dysfunction, severe trauma, or systemic diseases. Identifying such warning signs allows chiropractors to promptly refer patients for MRI or other imaging or to other appropriate healthcare professionals for further evaluation and management.

Treatment does not commence at this visit because the chiropractor needs time to reflect on the findings of this visit to produce the most suitable and safe care for the patient’s specific needs and preferences.

Step 2

Report of Finding Appointment (ROF)

The ROF is usually the second visit and its primary purpose is to transparently communicate the Chiropractors comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and proposed treatment plan to the patient. This personalised report aims to explain the patient’s condition and also empowers them to actively participate in their own well-being by asking questions and expressing their concerns and preferences.

It strives to foster a collaborative and informed decision-making process, promoting open communication and mutual understanding between the chiropractor and the patient. In doing so, the report becomes a roadmap for the patient’s journey to optimal health.

If a care plan is agreed between the patient and chiropractor, treatment may commence at this visit and there will be a charge for the treatment.

Step 3

Adjustment Visits

During your appointments at The Chiropractors Sutton Coldfield and Solihull the main chiropractic form of treatment is adjusting your spine, aiming to restore full movement of the spine and its associated joints.

Different techniques can be used depending on the severity of your issue, as well as your age and general health. We will be as gentle as we can while still making the changes your body needs.

Patients are encouraged to ask questions and express preferences as we can always adapt our treatment techniques.
